The Aftermath

You know one of the greatest things about being a father is you get to relive those moments in childhood. Its funny because all my son likes to do is play. You might think, yeah thats what kids do… But when you witness it for yourself, its somewhat mind boggling. He could spend the entire day playing and not get bored. Ofcourse I miss those care free days long long ago, but every now and then I get to relive them. Here are a couple of shots of some of my son’s toys that we also had back in my day.
The first is of a Transformer (mind you the quality has gone down hill big time) and the second is of Mario. You know “Super Mario”; We’re the Mario Brothers, plumbing’s the game, we’re not like the other who get all the fame
The last picture is of my son’s (current) favorite series Ben 10.
All of these were shot with the Nikon 35mm F1.8g

It is 2011…. In four more years Marty Mcfly and Doc will be riding the Delorean into the future… 2015. So how similar is the vision they had when they made Back to the Future Part II. Recently I watched the movie with my 4.5 year old son and he loved it. He kept asking for a hover board, which really reminded me of when I was a kid wanting a hover board. It also was interesting to notice the vision they had for 2015 in the movie and how it compares to our reality today. Throughout this year I will be having some fun looking at the vision they had for the movie.
The first picture above was taken by the Sigma 50mm 1.4g. Love the Bokeh on it. The last two images are using the Nikon 50mm 1.4g which is a great lense as well.
For now I will have a look at the modern Christmas light. I was walking in Downtown Vancouver tonight and noticed a few people around the city that still had their Christmas lights up. What was interesting is no one had the traditional red, green, blue small light bulb type of lights. Over the years there have been quite a few advancements in the Christmas light world that have flew under cover. Many Christmas lights now use LED so they tend to be brighter and more efficient. Also although many people still put up the traditional colors, many are now putting up what I call the modern Christmas light. One solid color such as blue or white. Personally I am a fan as they tend to look very clean and contemporary.

Hi and welcome to Citizen Funk. My name is Ahmed Raouf, the Lead Citizen of this blog. Happy New Year! Its 2011! What can you expect here? Well I will be uploading pictures atleast on a weekly basis. I am not going to pretend that this is a 365 blog because I know I cannot commit to one picture per day. However I can definitely commit to atleast one per week. Hopefully the pictures will be exciting. I will be trying to work on many different techniques in my photography.
Other then just posting pictures I will be discussing photography topics and equipment reviews.
